I was born in Port Jefferson, New York in October 1941 to Anna Caroline & Harold W. Trott. I attended public schools in New York City and after high school, I joined the navy. While in the navy I became interested in photography. At the age of 18 I bought my first camera and started taking pictures. After leaving the navy I moved to California to reunite with my family. This seemed to be a good place to learn photography and become familiar with my equipment. For the first 20 years I took snap shots never understanding the meaning of becoming a photographer or even having the interest to become one, other things seemed to be more important. In the past 3 decades my resolve has been to become a photographic artist. I’ve wandered the south west, traversing the States of Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah and many more in search of that unique moment when light, subject and setting combine to create that special image. While on the road, I strayed away from the well-worn tourist routes, searching for the unusual, the offbeat, and the exquisite remote areas of the South West in and out of our National Parks. These are some of the places you may find me with camera and tripod in hand. When I look for an image, I search for the essence of a location. It may be in a simple tree on a hill side, or the magnificent grandeur of Yosemite National Park, but it almost always includes my favorite subject’s: waterfalls, landscapes and seascapes.
In 2002 I switched from film cameras to digital. I employ a variety of lenses / from wide angle to telephoto. I create my images to achieve the realistic look of natural light, color & clarity. I have found that taking multiple images of a scene creates an image that equals the quality of large format photography. I am captivated by this method of photography and devote many hours to create extreme high definition images. Over the past years, I have gained recognition and won several awards for my photography and in the past 2 years especially for my high definition images. Photography has opened many doors, allowing me to gain a deeper visual understanding of our beautiful world. For me, the excitement of photography is that “once in a lifetime” image I may capture and use of today’s state of the art technology in photography.

Artist Statement
When one views my images I want that image to captivate you for that moment. To bring you closer, to pull you in, to absorb you in that image. When one moves closer, more detail is revealed and I want the feeling of being there to take hold of you and imprint that image indelibly in your mind. My images portray my great love for the scenic wonders of the north & south west.
Some of my images are created by taking multiple shots (2 or as many as 60 images) of one vista then merged together to make one high definition image. I feel that my high definition images can portray much more depth, color & life to them, then just a single image. People have said that my work has made them feel as though they are there and they can feel the tranquility and warmth or the cold chill of the day. With every image I create I endeavor to make the next one better then the last.
The great photographers of the past and the present have been a driving force and inspiration to me and I aspire to their level of ability and recognition. Many of my Black & White images have been compared to the works of Ansel Adams.
